Stepanova Ballet Academy

Through the vision of Stepanova Ballet Academy ’s Artistic Director TATIANA STEPANOVA, we aim to develop technique, discipline, confidence and a sustained love of dance in every student. Based in Thornhill, Ontario, Stepanova Ballet Academy has a diverse group of students from the Greater Toronto Area and beyond ( Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, North York, Mississauga, Oshawa). Stepanova Ballet Academy is based on the principles set out by the Vaganova Method. This precise technique and system of instruction promotes the development of lower back strength, arm plasticity, and all the extra strength, flexibility and endurance needed for ballet.

The breadth and depth of the education we provide, coupled with the expertise and support of our faculty and connections to world class ballet companies, make it possible for us to offer unparalleled ballet training and dance educations programs at the highest quality for a wide range of students.

Our students have succeeded at international dance competitions such as Youth American Grand Prix , and have received scholarships to prestigious ballet academies including Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow and Princess Grace Academy in Monaco. I am very fortunate to have my ballet training at Stepanova Ballet Academy for the past three years. Tatiana Stepanova is an inspiring ballet master, who motivates students to work to their best ability through her artistically precise and refined teaching. Her unparalleled attention to detail is completely out of this world. I have gained poise, confidence, and strength from the intensive dance program, and my dance technique has greatly improved. Mme. Stepanova has a strict, yet caring demeanor which is greatly effective in nurturing dancers of all ages. She dedicates much of her time and energy to her students as well as to her world-class ballet productions —— which make her stand out from other ballet teachers. I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to perform under the direction of Mme. Stepanova at the prestigious Sony Centre in Toronto. It was an invaluable and rare experience! Last but not the least; Stepanova’s excellent ballet training has helped built my physical and mental strength. I am very grateful that the outcomes of physical endurance and perseverance equally benefit my academic studies.

Artistic Director

Tatiana Stepanova

Artistic director Tatiana Stepanova, herself is a Prima Ballerina, having graduated from the world-renowned Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia. Mme. Stepanova has a reputation and resume that is shared by a select few in the ballet community. Upon graduating the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet Academy, she joined the Odessa State Ballet company where she soon became the principal dancer and Prima Ballerina. Mme. Stepanova’s experience includes principal roles in an extensive classical, contemporary and modern repertoire. Tatiana Stepanova has established herself not only as an accomplished and exceptional dancer, but also a Master Teacher and a great choreographer.

Mme. Stepanova has single handily choreographed the following master pieces:

Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Graduation Ball, Hansel & Gretel, My Way (Frank Sinatra), Snow White, Thumbelina, Coppelia, Chipollino, Pinocchio, La Fille Mal Gardee, The Fairy Doll and The Nutcracker
